An Alpine holiday moment, quietly reimagined in Poiana Brașov

Winter carries its own rhythm. At Swissôtel Poiana Brașov, it becomes a scene, curated with care, inspired by Alpine traditions, and expressed through contemporary Transylvanian elegance.

For the second year, the hotel brings the spirit of European winter markets to Romania through Swissmas Magic, a sensory installation that blends warmth, light, and meaning. After the golden gift-box façade of 2024, this season unveils a new chapter: inspired by the refined charm of the French Alps and created in partnership with Piper-Heidsieck, Atelier Interesart, and Menthol Branding.

The result is a visual and emotional experience.

Design with intention. Atmosphere with memory.

Over 9,000 warm lights trace the silhouette of the hotel, while reinterpreted hot-air balloons and Alpine greenery invite the eye, and the mind, to slow down. A curated soundscape recalls moments after a ski run: soft music, low laughter, a glass raised by the fire.

The installation brings together:

  • 115 natural fir trees (a part of which will be replanted in spring)
  • hand-crafted floral compositions by Nicu Bocancea
  • a clean visual language rooted in Nordic simplicity
  • and the emotion of mountain Christmases, quiet, elegant, familiar

Swissmas marks the start of a new winter season

This year’s Swissmas installation is also the official start of the 2025/2026 ski season in Poiana Brașov, and with it, a new rhythm of Alpine days.

The launch event celebrated mountain refinement in every detail:
from a live jazz & ambient electro set, to an eco-friendly laser show, to a festive dinner by Artegianale, with local caviar, mountain-inspired small plates, and carefully paired wines.

Every element reflected what Swissmas stands for: presence, precision, and a love for beauty that doesn’t shout.

 

Quiet luxury meets cultural identity

As the first 5-star hotel in Poiana Brașov, and the first Swissôtel in Romania, this is more than just a destination. It’s a statement: that luxury can feel local, that design can feel like home, and that winter can feel like a story well told.

Swissmas Magic II is inspired by Annecy, Megève, Val d’Isère, but grounded in Viscri, a Saxon village that shaped the design DNA of the hotel itself. The installation reflects this dual identity: timeless and local, European and rooted.

The texture of Nordic pine. The scent of forest air. The light that meets snow at just the right angle. It’s all there.
